Premex Group recognises that it has a responsibility and valuable role to play within it's local community.
Tree Appeal

Premex Group is a corporate partner of Tree Appeal. Tree Appeal plants trees to promote biodiversity, create habitats and improve the environment for people. Trees are paid for and planted by corporate partners - businesses that want to make a positive contribution to the environment.
In November 2008 Premex planted 400 trees at Rivington and Blackrod High School and its additional educational facility 'Powerwave'. Joined by local schoolchildren and the Mayor of Bolton, employees from Premex Services donned their waterproofs and helped to plant the trees in record time.
Premex "Go - Ape"
On the 8th July 2008, Premex Group sponsored a
rewarding day at "Go-Ape" in Delamere Forest for a selection of
pupils from Failsworth High School.
Each of the pupils who went to Go-Ape had attended extra lessons which had been arranged by the school during dinner times and after school in order to ensure they achieved the best results possible at GCSE.
A great day was had by all.
Bolton Lads and Girls ClubBLAGC
Premex Services is a Premier Patron of the Bolton
Lads and Girls club. Supporting the club over a number of years
Premex regularly attends its annual charitable event.
Bolton Lads and Girls Club aims to help the young people of today become happy, caring and responsible citizens of tomorrow. The club facilitates giving children and young people the opportunity to have regular contact with non-judgmental, caring adults who encourage them to be positive and make constructive use of their leisure time, empathise with them and support them through any challenges, changes and difficulties they face.
Premex Annual Charity Marie Curie Cheque
Each year Premex employees select a charity to become our charity of the year. All donations collected throughout the year from all charitable activities including dress down days and themed fundraising events are then donated annually to the charity, with Premex matching the money raised.
Marie Curie Cancer Care provides nursing care, free of charge,
to terminally ill people. The
money we have raised will provide 155
hours of hands on practical nursing care in Bolton, enabling
terminally ill people to remain at home.
2009 saw mass staff participation in a number of themed fundraising events. Our Easter eggstavaganza was a huge success with employees enjoying a painted egg and 'guess the number of eggs in the jar' competition as well as a quiz and raffle.
During the summer, we joined other contributors in a national initiative, Marie Curie's 'Blooming Great Tea Party' and hosted our own Summer jamboree. In August, all employees, gathered together to enjoy some delicious cakes and refreshments served by, among others, Donald Fowler, Managing Director. During October we celebrated Halloween by donning some frightening outfits.
Belvedere Junior Football Team
Premex have sponsored the Burnley Belvedere Junior Football Team for over six years. The team have throughout this period been sponsored by Premex which has enabled them to buy three football kits, training equipment (cones, ladders, bibs etc.), match and training balls and drinks bottles.
The team have been very successful over the last six years winning their league and cup competitions on a number of occasions.
Kilimanjaro Climb
Beth Jones from Silverbeck Rymer Solicitors was donated £1000 to climb Mount Kilimanjaro for the Marie Curie foundation. After 8 days of continuous climbing, which included a free climb and a final 16 hour late night ascent, Beth reached the summit.
Describing her achievement as 'one of the hardest things she had ever done'. Beth successfully achieved her target of £5,000 for the Marie Curie
Premex Christmas Party
The Premex Group's 2008 Christmas party was held at the Moat House in Bolton and themed on 'The Glammies'. The evening was full of fun and suprises, the best of all being Premex Services' Managing Director Donald Fowler, taking to the stage in his kilt to perform a unique version of '500 miles' by the Proclaimers. Donald's act of bravery raised a magnificent £1,000 in aid of research into Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. Action Duchenne represents families affected by the most severe form of muscular dystrophy, Duchenne.
Wooden Spoon Charity
At a Wooden Spoon charity event, directors of Premex Group bid £1,500 for an Eric Cantona painting. All the proceeds of the event went to the Wooden Spoon Charity, a children's charity founded in 1983 dedicated to helping underprivileged children and young people all over the UK and Ireland to live happier, richer lives and to achieve their full potential.
Twizzles Dance Group
In 2009 and 2010 Premex Group sponsored Twizzles dance group, which was established in 1980 by Shirley Watson, a member of our Expert Liaison team. Since 1980 the dance group has grown from strength to strength, with dancers progressing through the ranks to become today's teachers and three teams now competing on the national stage.

In recent years, teams representing Twizzles have had success at the British Isles Championship and they have opened shows at Blackpool Tower organised by the Strictly Come Dancing chorographers. Easter 2009 saw them compete at the Pwllheli Dance Competition, taking away a plethora of medals.
Chadderton Park FC
Premex Group is proud sponsor Chadderton Park FC, the club who nurtured budding footballers Bill Clynes and Mike Smith. Premex Group sponsor the under 7's team enabling them to buy a new kit, as well as contributing to new facilities.
Chadderton Park FC was established in 1977 by Jack Halliwell, a renowned football coach and referee who taught local lads the basic skills of football and realised that he had enough boys to form a football team. From those humble beginnings, the club has grown and grown and now has eleven different teams for players between the ages of six and 12, as well as an open age team.
Sports Equipment for local schools
In September Premex distributed sports equipment to three
schools
in the Bolton area. The purpose of the initiative was to provide
local schools with enough equipment to enable children to
participate in a variety of fun sports and outdoor activities.
The equipment was delivered to the three schools by marketing manager, Daniel Chesney, who said "it was really nice to give something back to the local community, to see the equipment in action and children playing happily".
Willowbrook hospice
Willowbrook Hospice has been established for over 18 years and cares for people with life-limiting illnesses who live in the St Helens and Knowsley areas. Since the Hospice opened 10 years ago, it has cared for over 3,500 patients. During this time its range of services has grown so much that it now receives approximately 850 patient referrals a year.
The hospice relies on fundraising efforts to enable its staff to provide support to patients and their families according to their individual needs. To contribute to this fundraising, Michael Halsall from Michael Halsall Solicitors, entered two teams into a charity 'its a knock out' event as well as organising a charity golf day to which Premex donated £1,200 helping the hospice to continue its excellent work.
MedEquip4Kids
17 employees from Delta Legal took part in the Great Manchester Run and organised other fundraising activities in order to raise money for MedEquip4Kids.
The charity works in partnership with hospitals to improve the care available to children when they suffer illness or have been involved in accidents. It provides paediatric-specific medical equipment and funding for projects that enhance hospital environments for the benefit of children and their families.
Premex donated £250 to the cause and Delta Legal has managed to raise more than £5,500 for MedEquip4Kids.
Southern Spinal Injuries Trust
The Southern Spinal Injuries Trust supports the Duke of Cornwall Spinal Treatment Centre at Salisbury and exists to help people with spinal cord injuries living in the south and south west of England. The Duke of Cornwall unit is one which Moore Blatch Resolve have a long relationship with, acting for many of their patients. Premex contributed £500 to the fundraising effort which raised over £2,000 for the charity.
Headway
In September, Peter Todd from Hodge Jones & Allen LLP decided to embark on a 300 mile cycle ride from London to Paris to raise valuable funds for Headway. Peter rode through beautiful English countryside and past quaint French villages encountering strong headwinds and enduring long days in the saddle to complete the challenge in Paris. Every year, more than 11,000 people will sustain a brain injury, which will leave them in need of lifelong care. Headway is dedicated to promoting understanding of all aspects of brain injury and to providing support, information and services to brain injury survivors, their families and carers. We donated £200 to Peter, who has managed, to date, to raise over £2,000 for the charity.
Sponsorship Match Scheme
In May 2009, Premex launched the Sponsorship Match Scheme enabling employees to have their Charitable initiatives matched by Premex to increase valuable fund raised. The following section outlines the activities employees have been involved with.
Bolton Hospice
In June 2009, Tracey Southern, from Finance department, joined members of her family to take part in a midnight memories walk in aid of the Bolton Hospice. The eight mile walk, a ladies-only event, which starts at the stroke of midnight and proceeds through the streets of Bolton, aims to bring family and friends from various generations together to walk in memory of a loved one.
Tracey raised £264 and, in total, all of the midnight walkers raised £194,245 for the Bolton Hospice.
Cancer Research
Thousands gathered at Leverhulme Park on July 5th 2009, for Bolton's Race for Life, including nine of Insight's girls and Helen Horrocks from Service Management. Every year Cancer Research organises a series of nationwide races for women to share their stories of courage, sadness and celebration, raising thousands of pounds for more research into cancer into the bargain.

In total they managed to raise over £900 for Cancer Research, a fantastic amount, with the Bolton Race for Life expecting to raise more than £100,000.
Motor Neurone Disease
In August Sarah McFaul from Premex Liverpool decided to take on the ultimate climb, or should that be climbs, participating in the Three Peaks challenge to raise valuable funds for The Motor Neurone Disease Association. The National Three Peaks Challenge is a mountain-endurance event in which participants attempt to climb the highest peaks in each of Great Britain's three countries, within 24 hours! The mountains climbed are Ben Nevis in Western Scotland, Mount Snowdon in North Wales, and Scafell Pike in North West England. In all the challenge involves some 26 miles of ascent and descent, and a distance of around 475 miles to be covered.
Motor Neurone Disease (MND) is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that attacks the upper and lower motor neurones leading to weakness and wasting of muscles. The association is dedicated to supporting people with MND and their carers.
Alzheimer's Society
In September 2009 Jennifer Lambeth from 3d risk solutions, took part in the annual memory walk for the Alzheimer's Society. It supports people with dementia and their carers based in the local area. Jennifer raised over £400 for the Alzheimer's Society.
Derian House Children's Hospice
On Halloween night Jackie Lawrence and Helen Horrocks, service management, spent an evening with 285 zombies to recreate the legendary Michael Jackson dance from his Thriller video.
The evening raised thousands of pounds for a number of charities, including Derian House Children's Hospice, Chorley, which was Jackie and Helen's chosen charity. The zombies beat the world record, for the number of people dancing to Thriller; previously set by 242 people in Virginia.
Derian House Children's Hospice focuses on specialist palliative respite and terminal care for children who may not live to reach adulthood, as well as the provision of support to their families in a "home from home" environment. With their killer dance moves Jackie and Helen managed to raise £300 for the charity.
Barnardo's
Felicity Heaf from out Liverpool office took on the Great North Run, in September, for the second time and raised over £650 for Barnardo's. Over 54,000 runners take on the world's biggest half marathon with everyone enjoying a fun atmosphere, running over the iconic Tyne Bridge and reaching the finishing line in South Shields.
Multiple Sclerosis Society
Adele Whittle from our Finance department completed a mammoth 50-mile walk along the entire length of the Lancaster Canal raising money for the Chorley Multiple Sclerosis Society. Apparently, she would have preferred to have run it!

The walkers completed the challenge, which took them from the village of Stainton in Kendal to the centre of Preston over 2 days clocking up an overall walking time of just over 12 hours. Adele raised £340 for charity.
